Game Overview

Mortal Kombat on MS-DOS is that classic arcade fighter where you pick one of seven warriors and beat the pixels out of each other. At first glance, the characters seem identical—same speed, same jumps—but after a few matches, you start noticing tiny differences in how far their punches reach or how fast certain kicks come out.

The controls take some getting used to: five buttons in an X shape for high/low punches and kicks, plus a block button right in the middle. No fancy quarter-circle motions here—just raw, brutal strikes. Get close, and your attacks change completely. Everyone shares basic moves like leg sweeps, but the real fun is landing that ridiculous uppercut that sends opponents flying halfway across the screen.

Matches are best-of-three rounds, and if time runs out, whoever’s less battered wins. It’s simpler than later MK games, but there’s something satisfying about how direct it all feels. Just don’t expect blood—this version had to tone it down for the PC crowd.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
